See how the shadows are downgraded to achieve 60fps framerate on PS4

Users who managed to get their hands on The Last of Us Remastered for the PS4 have just started taking screenshots and comparing the in-game shadows at 30fps and 60fps framerates to see which one is superior.

The Last of Us appeared originally for the PS3, and while its visuals weren't groundbreaking, it delivered a great story and a compelling gameplay that persisted across the single-player campaign and the multiplayer mode.

Since its release last summer, developer Naughty Dog has worked hard on remastering the experience for the PS4, on which the game can reach a 1080p full HD resolution and a 60fps framerate.

However, for those who aren't comfortable with experiencing the game at the fast framerate, a 30fps lock option is available.

Seeing as how many PS4 owners have started getting their hands on early copies of the game, some have taken screenshots to see what effects are sacrificed to reach 60fps.

While some extreme examples, like the one above via NeoGAF, shows shadows being pixelated at 60fps, others, like the ones in the gallery below, show minimal differences.

In the end, seeing as how the visual option can be toggled easily, it's up to players to decide how they want to experience The Last of Remastered on the PS4.
