A brand new report has appeared online claiming that The Elder Scrolls Online, the upcoming MMORPG from Zenimax Online Studios, cost around $200 million (around €146 million) to make.

The Elder Scrolls Online has been in development for quite a few years as Zenimax created a special new studio to work only on the massive project, which is set to debut this year across the PC, Mac, PS4, and Xbox One platforms.

According to industry insider Superannuation on Twitter, so far around $200 million (€146 million) have been spent on the game.

This is a whopping investment, especially since the MMO genre is a really risky one, fact proven by Electronic Arts' Star Wars: The Old Republic, a lackluster online title that promised much and also cost hundreds of millions of dollars.

As of yet, Bethesda hasn't commented on this report.
