The team wants to use the story to support gameplay

The team at 2K Marin and publisher Take Two are delivering yet another development diary for their coming The Bureau: XCOM Declassified, which is focused on how the narrative thread of the game was created.

The new experience will take players back in time to the '60s as they manage the first large scale encounter with the aliens that were also the focus of XCOM: Enemy Unknown.

A strong story is required for the game because it needs to explain why the protagonist is dealing with the alien menace.

The team also wants to contrast the humanity of the player's team with the aggressive nature of the aliens that he needs to vanquish on the battlefield.

The Bureau: XCOM Declassified will be out on August 20 in the United States and three days later in Europe on the PC, the Xbox 360 and the PlayStation 3.
