The game has been pulled from shelves in most stores

It seems that retailer Tesco has broken the street date for the rebooted Tomb Raider by as much as three whole days, with some players reporting that they were able to get access to the game as early as Saturday.

MCV also reports that the company sent out pre-ordered copies earlier than it should have, which means that a number of players had access to the game ahead of the official launch date.

Jon Moss, the video game buying manager at Tesco, states, “We take any street date break extremely seriously and are in the process of contacting stores to reiterate this message and ensure the product is taken off sale until midnight.”

Traditionally, broken street dates are taken seriously by publishers, and Square Enix might try to take action against Tesco in the coming months.
