Telltale Game is currently working on a video game based on the Fables comic book, but it seems that when the title finally launches, it will have a name designed to separate it clearly from the intellectual property on which it is based.

Dan Connor, the chief executive officer of the studio, tells IGN that, “We won’t be using the name Fables. We’re based on the property, but we’ll have a new name.”

He adds, “We want to make sure that people know it’s associated with the DC comic and Bill’s work and everything else. It’s delicate. But it won’t be called Fables.”

It seems that Telltale is acting in order to prevent another Walking Dead situation, where its own series of episodic adventures will face competition from the similarly named Walking Dead: Survival Instinct, a shooter from Activision.

Fables is a comic book created by Bill Willingham, in which folk and fairytale character mingle with humans in New York.
