Satoru Iwata, the chief executive officer and publisher of Nintendo, says that his company is interested in launching the TVii service for the Wii U in both Europe and Japan, but it is still talking with potential partners.

CVG quotes the executive as telling investors that, “many partners, including third-party publishers and non-gaming partners, as exemplified by VOD service providers, are seeing a lot of potential in Wii U, especially because it can also be used freely in the living room even if the TV is in use, and there are many possibilities, such as a shopping service or some other service that uses the internet.”

TVii is at the moment confirmed for the United States, where gamers will be able to view shows that they have recorded on their TiVo but will also be able to directly access content from Hulu, Amazon and ABC.

The TVii service will also deliver NFL matches to users, with enhanced functionality linked to the GamePad touch screen controller.
