A survey shows that 22 percent of surveyed publishers currently have plans to launch games on the next generation of consoles from Microsoft and Sony, while just 11% of them are interested in delivering titles for the Nintendo-made Wii U.

The report, called Games Connection Publisher Survey 2013, shows that about 6 percent of those questioned are planning to deliver future content on the PlayStation 3 and the Xbox 360.

Interest in handheld gaming is even lower, around 2 percent, even if the PlayStation Vita seems to be more attractive than the Nintendo 3DS, according to VG247.

The survey also shows that more companies are interested in delivering free-to-play experiences and an ever shrinking number is focused exclusively on physical releases.

Sony has already said that its upcoming PlayStation 4 will support a wide variety of experiences and business models.
