The world is already full of 2D shooters, but indie developers' love for them is unending, so here's another one: the deftly titled Super Mega Bob will have its players assume control of a blue ball and shoot all kinds of colorful stuff.

Jenito Games is a one-man indie studio that has just launched a Kickstarter for an "insanely difficult" 2D platformer that features a cute but devilishly fierce little blue hero that's set on a journey through a colorful world in search of his one true love.

The classic arcade action has a healthy dose of retro appeal, from its pixelated visuals to its catchy chiptunes, inspired by games such as Mega Man, The Adventures of Lolo, Raptor: Call of the Shadows and Jetpack, while also taking cues from modern titles like Diablo 3 or The Binding of Isaac.

The game is currently undergoing a Kickstarter campaign meant to raise a measly $3000 / €2183, which will allow its creator (who works full time as a teacher) to create the radical shooter during this summer.

The game is set to debut on Windows PC, and it also has a free playable beta for everyone to try out and decide for themselves whether the game is worth making or not.
