Team Meat, the developer of Super Meat Boy, has confirmed that its hard as nails platformer has sold over 1 million copies since its release at the end of 2010.

Super Meat Boy originally appeared on the Xbox 360, through the Xbox Live Arcade service, but it really took off once the game appeared on the PC, Mac OS X and Linux platforms, with legions of older gamers quickly falling in love with the old school game.

Now, according to the developer, it seems that its difficulty didn’t drive off fans, as over 1 million units have been sold. This is no doubt due to the recent series of sales and bundles that slashed the price of the arcade game.

Team Meat also confirmed that it’s still not working on a Super Meat Boy 2, but also mentioned that the current game might be making its way onto the PlayStation 3 at some point in time.

Until then, expect Super Meat Boy to continue its strong sales in the current year.
