Mario players that have been waiting for Super Mario Bros. 3 to come to 3DS and Wii U should now rejoice as the NES classic is on its way to the Nintendo and Wii U shop.

Nintendo's main website has recently listed the game for its flagship system. One must know that an identical listing already exists for the 3DS version of Super Marion Bros. 3, pointing to the fact that fans will be able to experience it on the Wii U GamePad, 3DS, or even the freshly released 2DS.

We can be certain of its success as the game caused quite a lot of sensation when it was released back in 1990.

It incorporated the “tried-and tested 2D formula later employed not only by Mario titles like Super Mario World and the New Super Mario Bros. series, but also by countless 2D platformers, most of which could never quite duplicate Mario 3’s near-perfect design and ingenious gameplay.”

For the moment, no release date has been set, but fans can expect it in the near future.
