Insomniac Games held a panel at yesterday's RTX 2014, showing off a sizable chunk of gameplay from its upcoming shooter Sunset Overdrive, and unveiling the game's opening cinematic.

The Xbox One exclusive third-person shooter is a wild mixture of blowing stuff up while on the go, including many parkour elements and even being a bit reminiscent of the old Tony Hawk's Pro Skater games, especially when it comes to the way you blitz around the city, jumping across rooftops and making use of zip-lines and acrobatic moves such as wall runs.

The game is set in the dystopian world of Sunset City, in the year 2027, a metropolis controlled by the FizzCo corporation, and the action takes off when humans who binge on the company's new energy drink, Overcharge Delirium XT, start mutating into hideous and fearsome beasts.

The game's opening cinematic shows the protagonist of the upcoming action, a lowly FizzCo employee tasked with cleaning up after the celebration of the launch of the new energy drink, witnessing the drink's horrible effects on its consumers for the first time.

Sunset Overdrive is scheduled for launch exclusively on Microsoft's next-gen computer entertainment system, the Xbox One, on October 28, 2014.
