Developer Insomniac Games has just announced that its Xbox One exclusive third-person shooter Sunset Overdrive has gone gold.

This means that everything is ready to go, with the development process complete, and that the game is ready to spawn offspring that will be invading Xbox One systems all across the globe later this month.

Gamers will have to navigate the sprawling open world of Sunset City, after a brand new energy drink turns the population into hideous monsters.

Players will be able to customize their characters to their hearts' content, with a slew of different options from skin tone and body type to zany outfits to pick from, and then they will embark on an action-packed journey of non-stop moving and shooting through the colorful urban setting imagined by Insomniac Games.

The latest video diary from the developer shows a repulsive mutant breaking out from the game to announce the good news, letting players know that there won't be any delay, and they'll be able to start grinding rails and blowing up stuff as scheduled, at the end of the month.

Sunset Overdrive will come out on October 28 in North America and October 31 in Europe, exclusively for the Xbox One computer entertainment system from Microsoft.
