Steam, the massively successful digital distribution service made by Valve, has just reached a new milestone, with over 8 million concurrent users logging into the program yesterday to view the last day of the Summer Sale of 2014.

Steam went live many years ago and, while at first it didn't offer the greatest service, it slowly but surely improved in all sorts of ways, while expanding the portfolio of titles it was putting up for sale.

Throw in bonus features like the community market or the workshop, and Steam soon became the premiere destination for any game made for the PC, Mac, or Linux platforms.

Now, during the last day of its Steam Summer Sale of 2014, the service has reached a new concurrent user milestone, as over 8 million users logged in at once.

More specifically, according to the Steam stats page, 8,020,398 users were logged in at the same time on the Steam service.

The figure is quite impressive, considering that during the previous major sale last winter it reached 7.6 million concurrent users.

Expect that number to grow, as Valve wants to aggressive expand in the living room through Steam Machines PCs as well as dedicated controllers and much more.
