Steam, the most popular digital distribution service on the PC platform, has apparently been affected by a series of errors today, January 20, 2012, with lots of users from all around the world encountering problems when trying to download games or log into their actual accounts.

Valve won over many people with the stability of its Steam service, but this doesn’t mean that errors don’t happen from time to time.

The newest issues have started popping up today, 1/20/2012, with Steam users from all around the world flooding the Help and Tips section of the Steam forums with reports of errors they’ve just encountered.

By far the most common is the “No Steam Content Servers are currently configured to deliver content” error, which is displayed when users try to download games from the online service.

A few workarounds, such as changing the download region, deleting files like the clientregistry.blob and appupdatestats.blob, or reinstalling the program haven’t worked for many users.

What’s more, when trying to access the Steam Community section, players also encounter an “Error verifying humanity” message.  Problems are also affecting things like wishlists, purchases or the news section, as you can see in the image above.

As of yet, there hasn’t been an official message from Steam representatives, so expect more details in the near future.

UPDATE 1: The News section is apparently working right now, so let's hope everything will return to normal as soon as possible.

UPDATE 2: Some users report that profile features (wishlist, inventory ) and purchases are now functional. Not everyone (including us) is able to download games yet, however.

UPDATE 3: Everything seems back to normal. Valve has also issued a small Steam client update with no changelog.
