Valve is giving up in the fight against DLC in modern games

The latest Steam Beta update comes with a neat feature that makes it easier to manage your downloadable content packs.

The update adds a new DLC view when you select any of the games in your library, making it easier to keep track of everything. The list shows all the DLC for the given game and also shows whether it's installed or not, which comes in handy when you want to be selective about what content you stick into your games.

Furthermore, the update also adds the ability for users to delete cookies used by Steam's web browser. You can see the full patch notes on the Steam community website.

It looks like Valve is finally acknowledging the prominence of downloadable content in modern games. This is a good move, as many gamers have been requesting interface improvements from the mammoth distribution platform, especially since game libraries have started to become more and more bloated.

The next step would be for the company to allow users to customize their interfaces, but it's most likely going to be a while until we get something that outlandish.

In any case, better sorting and filters would still be nice. For the time being, Valve has been trying to make it easier for people to find relevant games, through the introduction of curators and the personalized recommended queue.

If you've not opted into the Steam Beta and would like to join the elite crowds who have, you can do so from Steam's settings menu, under the Account tab.
