Major League Gaming announces that it is no longer including the strategy game Starcraft 2: Heart of the Swarm in the lineup of titles that will be featured in its upcoming Columbus, Ohio tournament.

Sundance DiGiovanni, the chief executive officer of the company, writes via Twitter that "Just so folks know – we are currently not planning to run SC2 at Cbus. Should that change we'll let you know via official channels."

It seems that the elimination of Starcraft 2 is designed to allow the company to shift its focus to more popular video games like Multiplayer Online Battle Arenas title like League of Legends.

It's not clear yet whether the strategy game from Blizzard will be featured in other future MLG tournaments.

Starcraft 2 matches will continue to attract large online followings and other eSports organizations will fill the gap left by Major League Gaming.
