Major League Gaming has restarted its StarCraft 2 dedicated programming schedule, with the announcement of an invitational tournament and its participation in the next championship.

This comes after Major League Gaming's short break from StarCraft 2 coverage, while it collaborated with GameOn in order to organize an Americas-only gaming league.

The debut event is the MLG GameOn Invitational, starting January 19. The event will run until January 26 and will see the participation of 16 Americans, among which 12 invited guests and 4 fan-voted players, competing for a $5k prize pool.

MLG stated that, after re-evaluating StarCraft 2 activity during 2013, they wanted to build something that the SC2 community both wanted and needed, in 2014. Consequently, noticing the lack of online or offline competition in North America, they decided to launch an Americas-only competition platform, as announced on the MLG website.

North American players also have the MLG Championship to look forward to, taking place June 20-22 at the Anaheim Convention Center in Anaheim, California, and featuring Dota 2 and Call of Duty: Ghosts.

The MLG and GameOn joint event will be broadcast on both MLG.tv and GameOn.
