Video game publisher Square Enix is working on a new browser-based video game called Legend World, which is designed to allow players to fight a lot of the monsters that have appeared in the long-running Final Fantasy franchise.

Gamers will be able to create their own avatar and then customize it before taking the field to do battle with a number of classic enemies like Cactaurs and Bombs.

Square Enix says that more monsters will be added after the game is officially launched.

Square-Enix: Legend World uses Stage 3D and Flash in order to deliver impressive visual quality and a lot of color, but the publisher says that it can scale the game in order to allow it to run on lower end systems.

At the moment, a closed beta phase is planned for later this year (2013), in Japan.
