Developer Three Rings and publisher SEGA are offering a new winter-themed update for their action MMO Spiral Knights, designed to offer players more adventures for the holiday period and a number of special rewards.

The official description of the winter events reads: “Impostoclaus has come to town but unfortunately not every child will be receiving a present from him. In the gremlin outcast town of Emberlight, a faction of fiendish, green-furred gremlins called 'grinchlins' have begun an attack on Emberlight. These grinchlins seek to rob the orphans of Emberlight of their presents and even destroy Impostoclaus!”

Spiral Knights is aimed at younger audiences and uses a free-to-play business model, with players encouraged to get armors and weapons packs in order to support the game.

All big MMOs tend to have winter-themed events during late December and early January.
