Things appear to be pretty serious, so there's a pretty big chance that we're getting the 7th installment in the series

The development team behind the popular Soulcalibur fighting series is apparently preparing something pretty big, as they are currently trying to determine who the most popular characters are.

The company is hosting a survey on Facebook, asking fans which one is their favorite brawler. However, developer Project Soul was pretty clear that the survey was meant to help the brand in general, and not the much-maligned free-to-play Soulcalibur: Lost Swords, a single-player pay-to-win title.

In addition to this, the post introducing the poll mentions that Project Soul is "probably preparing something huge," which is a pretty clear indication of the fact that it's a new entry in the series.

The weapon-based fighting game franchise made its debut back in 1996, and it managed to win the hearts of many gamers, through its exciting mechanics and interesting historical fantasy setting.

There are currently six main series games, with Soul Calibur V being the last, launched in 2012, and four spin-offs, the latest of which, Soulcalibur: Unbreakable Soul, dropped in 2014 on iOS.

This means that there is a pretty good chance that we'll soon get an official announcement from Bandai Namco Games, so stay tuned for the medieval-themed brawling news to drop.
