There will be a total of around 200 games, discounted over the course of next month

Sony has announced that the first wave of Summer Sale discounts is hitting the PlayStation Store today, bringing a lot of good deals for owners of the PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4 or PlayStation Vita platforms.

The official announcement informs that, over the course of the following four weeks, gamers will find all kinds of top-notch games discounted on the PlayStation Network. The company intends to roll out the deals in batches, and to offer a total of around 200 games on sale, to be replaced by new titles each Wednesday.

Today's sale will take off with a selection of PlayStation 4 games from EA, from the popular king of sports simulator FIFA 14 and the gritty warfare first-person shooter Battlefield 4, to the down and dirty racing title Need for Speed Rivals, including all the games' DLC.

Additionally, Sony has also unveiled the first batch of PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita discounts, which will be available for two weeks before being swapped.

In case you're wondering what some of the more eye-catching PS3 titles are, you can pick up some Batman and Assassin's Creed games, as well as Battlefield 3 and 4, Dead Island, Dragon Age, Driver San Francisco, Mass Effect, Guacamelee, Thief and many others.

The Vita is getting Hotline Miami, Injustice: Gods Among Us Ultimate Edition, Guacamelee, Spelunky, and some LEGO games among many others, and there are also some PSP titles, for those who want to kick it old-school.
