Sony has offered a statement concerning the special giveaway it started on the North American PlayStation Network, saying that it can't reveal the criteria it uses to select the lucky users.

Sony began last month to actually hand out free money to North American PlayStation Network users, in the form of special $10 (around €7.69) vouchers.

Contacted by Polygon, Sony said that it couldn't disclose the criteria it used to give the special code, but it did say that select active PSN users would continue to receive them.

"While we don't disclose the exact criteria used, we can say that select active PSN users were chosen to receive an XMB message that included a credit for their SEN Wallet as part of this special promotion," the Sony representative said.

Many North American PSN users reported at the end of February receiving these messages from Sony and people are still getting their free money in the past few weeks.
