Sony is reportedly planning to upgrade the privacy options for its PlayStation Network online service ahead of the PlayStation 4's launch later this year, as a source and files from PS3 firmware 4.45 hint at the new settings.

The PSN went through several privacy issues over the years and it seems that, with the upcoming launch of the PlayStation 4 that might take place in November, Sony wants to improve the privacy options of the online service.

According to Exophase, a source has confirmed that the PSN will receive new features that can hide portions of a user's gaming activity.

What's more, the website notes that files found in the recent PS3 firmware 4.45 also include mentions of a privacy level that can be set for the PS3 game trophies.

As of yet, Sony isn't commenting on this new report.
