The development team at Sony working on the coming firmware updates for the PlayStation 4 announces that it is exploring the possibility of delivering a special friend online status notification system in the coming months.

The information comes from the official Twitter account of the United Kingdom division of the company, but the message does not offer any details on when the new service might be launched or how exactly it will work.

Sony has been asking all PlayStation 4 buyers to offer their feedback and to explain exactly what new ideas they are interested in getting access to before the end of the year.

Recently, the company delivered firmware update 1.75, which enables playback for 3D movies.

Sony has pledged to implement new features for the home console as quickly as possible, mainly in order to make sure that the Xbox One from Microsoft does not get a competitive advantage.

The PlayStation 4 has managed to sell better until now because of its lower initial price and because of some of the core features that were offered on launch.

Even if the Xbox One is now 399 dollars or Euro and no longer features the Kinect motion tracking system, the Sony platform continues to lead when it comes to sales in the United States.
