Sony Doesn't Want to Show the Actual PlayStation 4 Console Yet

The company will focus just on the DualShock 4 and the PlayStation 4 Eye camera

Sony announced to the world the PlayStation 4 earlier tonight but, unfortunately for fans, it didn't actually reveal the console, instead limiting itself to presenting the DualShock 4 controller, the PlayStation 4 Eye Camera, and various games for the next-generation console.

According to Sony Worldwide Studios boss, Shuhei Yoshida, this was a strategic decision from Sony, as the company wants to still keep fans interested in the new console, ahead of its release.

Yoshida told Kotaku that the original idea was to reveal just the PS4 at the event, but instead it decided to focus on the controller and the PS Eye, as they were the ones actually used by developers to demonstrate their various games.

As such, in order to "keep something new for later" and to prevent boredom for fans, Sony will actually reveal the design of the PlayStation 4 later this year, probably at the E3 2013 conference in June, when Microsoft is expected to reveal its Xbox 720.
