The team states that Westeros is 70% complete

Some gamers with a lot of free time and even more focus are working on recreating the entirety of Westeros in Minecraft.

Westeros is the fantasy continent (who some people claim is based on Sweden) where all the action goes down in George R. R. Martin's hugely popular "A Song of Ice and Fire" series of novels, which also saw the light of day on TV, in HBO's "Game of Thrones" series.

It seems that, after modeling Manhattan and Denmark, gamers are no longer content to mirror real-life geography, and are looking to fantasy lands to sate their thirst of creation.

The project started around four years ago, and the team is still working on it as we speak. The latest video, available below, shows their progress so far, which they state is around 70 percent of the world.

The effort is being implemented by around 125 fans today, all working on building Westeros' cities, castles and scenery, faithfully following the source material.

The team even went as far as modifying the launcher, so it would include over 50 new custom blocks and textures, made especially for their project.

And things won't stop here either, as they mention that, once they finally get to put the finishing touches on Westeros, they are going to start working on the next major continent in the fantasy universe, Essos. Madness.
