The development team at Frictional Games is ready to deliver yet another video for its upcoming Soma title, running on the PlayStation 4 home console from Sony, which reveals that the new experience will take place entirely under water.

The team explains on the official PlayStation Blog that the decision was made because oceans cover so much of the surface of the Earth, yet we know less about them than we know about near cosmic space.

Frictional Games was attracted by how hard it is to explore the ocean and the way pressure can turn the depth into a deadly trap for those who want to run away.

The studio adds, “And as if this isn’t enough, the creatures living there seem like they’re from another world. Gigantic squid, luminescent fish and creatures that are all mouths and teeth are only the start. If you dive down any distance you enter into a realm of monsters.”

Soma is set to offer a traditional horror experience and previous trailers from Frictional Games suggested that the game would be focused on the relationship between humans and powerful Artificial Intelligence.

Soma will be launched in 2015, on the PC and on the PlayStation 4, and the team will offer more details on the mechanics and the story soon.
