Sniper: Ghost Warrior 2 won't get its promised free dismemberment DLC, as developer City Interactive has confirmed that the add-on has been canceled and will no longer appear for its recent first-person shooter.

Sniper: Ghost Warrior 2 was eagerly awaited by many fans of the original, largely because City promised lots of new mechanics and even a novel dismemberment mechanic that allowed players to shoot off the limbs of their enemies.

Sadly, that feature was taken out of the game, but the studio did promise that it was going to appear as free DLC.

Now, the studio has stated that work on the dismemberment DLC has been stopped and the add-on will no longer appear, according to Videogamer.

No exact reason has been given, but it's likely because of the game's poor critical receptions and its low sales.
