The development team at United Front Games and publisher Square Enix have launched a new trailer for their upcoming Sleeping Dogs which shows main character Wei Shen doing actual old-school detective work and trying to get clues about a serial killer.

The game follows the policeman as he is sent to Hong Kong in order to infiltrate the powerful Triads and, as the game progresses, he needs to perform complex police work while also keeping the trust of the criminals that are now part of his everyday life.

The game started life as True Crime: Hong Kong and was canceled by Activision before Square Enix has rescued the entire experience and offered United Front Games the resources it needs to finish and launch it.

Sleeping Dogs will launch on the PC, the PlayStation 3 and the Xbox 360 on August 14 in the United States and August 17 in Europe.
