A brand new report has appeared online, claiming that Sledgehammer Games, the co-developer of 2011's Modern Warfare 3, might actually be in charge of this year's next Call of Duty title.

The Call of Duty franchise is one of Activision's biggest properties, and the large publisher has reined in quite a lot of different studios to work on it, from founders Infinity Ward, to Treyarch, Neversoft, or Raven.

Now, judging by a big batch of new job listings from Sledgehammer Games, another one of the many studios working on the series, it seems that the next game could be made primarily by the developer, according to GearNuke.

Seeing as how the actual listings mention the next Call of Duty game, it's quite likely that it will be this year's iteration.

Sledgehammer confirmed last year that was not involved in the development of 2013's Call of Duty: Ghosts, so it's already spent quite some time working on its own Call of Duty project.
