At one point, the music-based video game was one of the most important genres in gaming and one of the victims of its downfall was Sing Hero, a title that was supposed to be created by Pi Studios for publisher Activision Blizzard.

Sing Hero was supposed to focus on the number of fans that a player accumulated as a clear measure of their game performance, according to information uncovered by Siliconera.

The game was linked to the wider Hero franchise of video games, which included the core Guitar Hero but also spin-offs like Band Hero and DJ Hero.

Pi Studios was the team originally in charge of Wii ports for the core Guitar Hero series.

At the moment, Activision has no plans for more Hero titles and rival Harmonix has also moved on from the Rock Band franchise.
