Shaq is baq! For real this time, as the crowdfunding campaign for the Shaq Fu: A Legend Reborn video game managed to beat its goal during its final day and secure the necessary funds to create the beat'em up starring the colossal basketball player.

While the original Shaq Fu is considered a proud member of the video game Hall of Shame, this time around, the devs promised to make a game worthy of the players' attention and intend to release their creation on the PC, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, Xbox One and Wii U platforms.

Developer Big Deez Productions and basketball legends Shaquille O'Neal were aiming for $450k / €323k to get the game done, and they acquired a grand total of 104 percent of that, thanks to some rather bizarre backer rewards.

The game's Indiegogo campaign benefited from the addition of some last-minute perks and discounts, some of which are truly unique and seem like once-in-a-lifetime opportunities, such as having the big man himself, Shaquille O'Neal, come to your party and play a DJ set. Would you pay $35k / €25k for this? Someone did.

Apart from this, other prizes included having lunch and a game of hoops at Shaq's home, on his own court, or having Shaq record a personalized voicemail message.

Shaq Fu: A Legend Reborn will be a proper remake of the 1994 original, which will hopefully be good enough so as not to have some anti-fans embark on a crusade to destroy all copies of it ever made.
