Developer Harebrained Schemes has announced that a standalone version of Shadowrun Returns expansion Dragonfall will be released this September.

The new release is described as a Director's Cut by the creators during the latest Kickstarter update, but the exact changes and features implemented into the game are yet to be revealed.

The studio promises that more information will be revealed next month, but until then, they say that backers of the original game on Kickstarter and owners of the Dragonfall expansions will be able to get their hands on the standalone edition of the Berlin adventure for free.

Shadowrun: Dragonfall was released in February of this year, for PC, Mac and Linux, as a DLC expansions for the hit cyberpunk role-playing game Shadowrun Returns, and a bundle that included the expansions packaged with the original game was also made available.

Shadowrun Returns is a hugely successful role-playing game that mixes technology with fantasy, offering a complex world of conspiracies and tech-infused gadgetry that captures the essence of the cyberpunk genre and adds a layer of traditional fantasy on top for extra enjoyment, in addition to the top-notch writing.

The Shadowrun: Dragonfall Director's Cut was announced in order to celebrate the one-year anniversary of Shadowrun Returns.
