The two franchises could become multimedia properties

Koch Media, the new owner of the Saints Row and Metro franchises, believes that movies could be made based on the two video game series, seeing as how it already has experience with making movies for its domestic German market.

THQ's bankruptcy forced the publisher to sell its franchises and studios, so German company Koch Media bought the rights to the Saints Row and Metro series, as well as developer Volition.

Now, after confirming release dates for the next two installments in the franchises, Saints Row 4 and Metro: Last Light, Koch CEO Klemens Kundratitz told VentureBeat that movies based on the two series aren't "out of the question."

"If a company can deliver that transmedia experience, we are probably one of the few that have the ambition and ability to deliver that. At the same time, I have to be honest, we have not been able to deliver that [transmedia experience] yet, but it’s one of my long-term strategic goals to do so."

Koch already released a few movies in Germany and sold the rights to a Dead Island-based movie to Lionsgate back in 2011.
