BitComposer Games, the publisher of STALKER: Call of Pripyat, now owns the actual STALKER franchise, taking over the rights from defunct developer GSC Game World.

GSC was one of the most prestigious game developers from Ukraine, but the studio was forced to close its doors after financial problems at the beginning of the year.

After its employees formed a new studio and started working on another game, the fate of the rights to the STALKER franchise remained at the founder of the original developer, Sergiy Grygorovych.

Now, GamaSutra reports that the rights to the post-apocalyptic RPG series are owned by BitComposer Games, the company who published the last entry in the franchise – STALKER: Call of Pripyat.

According to a statement, BitComposer recognizes the importance of the series and wants to grow it in the future, even if it can't actually confirm whether or not a new game, like STALKER 2, is in development.
