GSC Game World, the Ukrainian developer responsible for the popular STALKER series, has released a small statement, saying that “there is still cause for hope” as the studio may not shut down after all.

The STALKER series, comprised of the original game, plus its prequel and sequel, in the form of Clear Sky and Call of Prypiat, went on to gain a cult following among PC gamers for its unique setting and through the support of elaborate mods that made roaming through the radiation-torn Chernobyl area that much more immersing.

Sadly, as we heard at the beginning of the month, the developer of the series, which is now working on STALKER 2, is close to being shut down, at least according to some reports coming from Ukraine.

After admitting that things aren’t looking so good, the studio has posted a new message on its Twitter account, via RPS, saying that, while no official news is known until January, there’s hope that the developer won’t be closing its doors.

“Dear Stalkers: We will not be releasing any official news until around mid January. However there is cause for hope! Good hunting!”

Hopefully, we’ll get to hear some good news once January arrives.
