GSC Game World, the former developer of STALKER 2, has issued a statement, denying that the project was sold to Bethesda and saying that the rights to the STALKER franchise belong to the studio’s founder.

It’s been a hectic couple of days GSC Game World, as after forming a brand new studio, in the form of Vostok Games, and confirming a new game, in the form of Survarium, several reports appeared about the fate of its STALKER 2 project.

These rumors said that the studio had to sell STALKER 2 to Bethesda in order to get funding for Vostok and Survarium.

GSC has now posted a message on the STALKER 2 Facebook page, saying that, “There is no truth to the allegations that the Stalker rights have been sold to Bethesda. The rights belong to Sergiy Grygorovych, the founder of GSC Game World.”

The studio also added that the cancelation of the STALKER 2 project came after it couldn’t secure the rights of the IP, not because there was a lack of funding.

As of right now, the fate of the project is still unknown.
