The development team at Sony Online Entertainment announces that the Player Studio that it has launched for its MMO Planetside 2 has seen more than 2,000 submissions since it was introduced last year.

470 of the items that the community has designed have since then featured on the Marketplace for the title and were bought by thousands of players.

All the revenue that SOE has obtained is being shared with the players who have created them.

All of those interviewed in a new video that also features Tramell Isaac, the senior art director, claim that their primary motivation for making new Planetside 2 items was to express their creativity.

The company adds, “Along with camos, decals and hood ornaments, players can now make cosmetic attachments for the Harasser ground vehicle. PlanetSide 2 will continue to open new cosmetic slots for creators so players can look forward to designing melee weapons, optics, additional vehicle attachments and more!”

Planetside 2 is offered under a free-to-play model, but gamers can pay real-world money in order to get access to some items and cosmetic changes for their characters.

The game is continuously supported by the team at SOE, which plans to launch at least one major expansion this year.
