Tim Heaton, the current studio director of The Creative Assembly, says that publisher SEGA currently has no plans to merge The Creative Assembly and Relic studios, despite their similar structure and focus on the strategy genre.

The executive tells CVG that, “although there are no plans to tie the two studios together, we’re already seeing knowledge feed back from Relic into CA.”

It’s unclear whether Relic will take charge of the newly acquired Warhammer license after completing Company of Heroes 2 or whether the studio will be working on another franchise.

Relic was bought by SEGA from the defunct THQ.

The two companies might collaborate on the creation of a new core engine which can be used by both in the future.

The Creative Assembly is working on Total War: Rome 2, which will be launched during fall.
