Ryse: Son of Rome will no longer receive its SmartGlass-powered Challenge Editor, as developer Crytek wants to focus on free and premium add-ons.

Ryse: Son of Rome appeared alongside the Xbox One in November, but before the official launch Crytek promised that users would be able to create their own online challenges easily via the SmartGlass tablet or smartphone application.

After quite a lot of time since the game's release, Microsoft has now come forward and revealed that the promised feature is no longer showing up.

"After careful consideration, we have decided to cease development on Ryse: Son of Rome's challenge editor and focus on improving and expanding fans' experience with the game through both free content updates and purchased add-on packs," the spokesperson told Polygon. "We look forward to sharing more details soon."

Ryse will receive a fresh DLC pack next week, in the form of Mars' Chosen add-on.
