It looks like Amazon UK has broken the street date for the release of Rockstar's GTA 5 title, as the online retailer has already dispatched copies of the game to some customers.

Gamesindustry.biz reports Rockstar is now “investigating” early sales in order to determine how was this possible before taking any legal action against those “guilty.”

Here is Rockstar's short statement: “we are in the process of investigating early 'sales' to determine how and why that is occurring.”

Although Grand Theft Auto 5 is set for release on September 17, some fans of the franchise that pre-ordered the game via Amazon UK have already received their copies of the game a few days before the official release.

It's unclear how many copies already reached in the hands of customers, but it's less likely that this will have an important impact on sales via retail stores. Stay tuned for more updates on the matter.
