The development team at Capcom says that the various monsters that players will battle in the upcoming Resident Evil: Revelations are inspired by real-world viruses.

Kazuhisu Inoue, the game director, states in a new developer diary video that his team has tried to find real-world viruses that would scare the player when transformed using the unique artistic vision of the Capcom team.

Resident Evil: Revelations was launched on the Nintendo 3DS and the game was successful enough to get a port for the PlayStation 3 from Sony, the PC, the Xbox 360 and the Wii U.

The game offers an action-driven experience that’s different from that of Resident Evil 6 and gives players more tactical freedom.

Launch is set for May 21 in North America and three days later in Europe.
