CD Projekt Red has just released the first screenshots from the ongoing RedKit closed beta test, showing off what mods created by actual players can look like inside the RedEngine technology powering The Witcher 2 and the upcoming The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt.

CD Projekt Red impressed many role-playing game fans with the stunning The Witcher 2, which came out a couple of years ago, and is currently working on The Witcher 3, which is out next year.

Besides creating the sprawling RPGs, the studio has also dedicated its efforts to the RedKit, a suite of mod tools for its RedEngine technology, which should allow players to create their own modifications for games powered by the tech.

After a period of closed beta testing, the first screenshots have appeared via the official forums and can be admired both above and below.

As you can see, the environments created by modders with the RedKit are quite impressive, especially since the RedKit isn't even final.

No other details have been shared so it's still unclear when the mod tools are released to the public.
