Red Orchestra 2: Heroes of Stalingrad Game of the Year Edition is now free to download and play on the Steam digital distribution service this weekend, and can be purchased with a massive 85% discount.

Red Orchestra 2 impressed quite a lot of hardcore first-person shooter fans back in 2011 when it first appeared and, since then, developer Tripwire continued to support it through updates and even added Steam Workshop compatibility, allowing owners to create their own maps and share them with friends.

Now, the impressive shooter is free to download and play this weekend via Steam, so anyone can try it out. If people decide to buy it, there's also an 85% discount available and quite a bit of new quality DLC, as the winners of the Counterattack contest have just seen their maps released via a free update.

Don't forget that you can also browse the Steam Workshop for new maps for the game's multiplayer.
