Rebellion says that a new Aliens vs. Predator game could definitely happen, and that everyone there has a strong attachment to the franchise.

Kevin Floyer-Lea, head of programming at Rebellion, was also the lead programmer on the first PC edition of Aliens versus Predator, and during a recent interview with DSOG, he has mentioned that although there is nothing set in stone yet, the possibility of another Aliens vs. Predator game is definitely real.

"Here at Rebellion we've got a particularly strong attachment to the AvP universe, so it could happen," Floyer-Lea begins.

"We had a lot of fun playing with people's minds on the original game by randomizing spawn positions so what was a health pack turned out to be an Alien on your next play through. So personally I'd love to see an AvP game with fully procedurally generated levels, where you literally never know what's around the next corner," he continues.

Of course, there's a long way from the people at Rebellion still thinking about the franchise to actual work starting on a project, but the fact that the possibility is not totally discounted offers some hope for more AvP action sometime in the future.

The latest installment in the Aliens series was Gearbox Software's Aliens: Colonial Marines, which disappointed pretty much everyone, and now gamers are looking forward to Creative Assembly's Alien: Isolation, a first horror game that aims to take things back to the roots, due out on October 7.
