Video game publisher Ubisoft announces that it will launch a new Online Challenges Mode for the upcoming Rayman Legends exclusively on the Wii U home console from Nintendo, at some point during April.

The new mode will be launched via the eShop service and it seems to be designed to act as a consolation prize for those who have been expecting to play Rayman Legends on the Wii U since 2012.

The new mode will offer support for up to five gamers, complete with online leaderboards and both cooperative and competitive mechanics.

Ubisoft initially announced that Rayman Legends on the Wii U would be delayed to the first half of 2013, but since then, the publisher revealed that the game was going multi-format and would be available on the Wii U, the Xbox 360 and the PlayStation 3 during September.
