The upcoming Project X Zone, developed by Banpresto and Monolith Soft, might be a tactically oriented role-playing game, but the team working on it plans to create a set of game mechanics including the ability to deliver combos that include more than 99 hits.

Players will be able to select two characters in order to create the main team that they will use in the game, another single character who will be a solo fighter and a support member.

During combat gamers will be able to mix and match abilities and special powers, perform cancel moves and call in the support character in order to keep combos going up to the final limit of 99 hits.

Project X Zone includes a large cast of character takes from series created by Capcom, Namco Bandai and SEGA.

The game will be launched on the Japanese market on the Nintendo 3Ds during October.

It’s not clear whether Namco Bandai is planning on also launching the game on the Western market.
