Developers Banpresto and Monolith Soft, with publisher Namco Bandai Games, announce that they plan to launch their ambitious Project X Zone on North American, European and Australian markets during the summer of this year.

The tactical role-playing titles will use characters drawn from franchises owned by Namco Bandai Games, Capcom, and Sega.

The 3DS game will feature more than 200 characters taken from 29 game universes and the fighting mechanics have been specifically designed to appeal to a wide array of players.

It’s unclear whether any changes will be made to Project X Zone for its Western release or whether the developers plan to keep the original untouched.

Project X Zone has been available in Japan since late 2012 and it managed to sell a little over 80,000 units during its launch week.
