The game is a spiritual successor to the System Shock series

An internal e-mail message from the development team at Arkane seems to confirm that the company is currently actively working on Prey 2, something that both the studio and its publisher, Bethesda, have been denying for some time.

Kotaku has seen the actual electronic message inside the team and states that Ralph Colantonio, the leader of the company, says that Prey 2 is being created by its Austin team.

The game is described as using an entirely new concept, different from anything that Human Head tried to do with the setting before it abandoned the project.

Apparently, the experience will be a successor to System Shock 3, although such a game does not actually exist.

Pete Hines, a vice president at Bethesda, has recently said that Prey 2 is in development but that his company is not willing to offer any sort of information on it at the moment.

It's unclear why the two companies are so committed to keeping fans in the dark about the game.
