Pete Hines, the vice president in charge of marketing and PR at Bethesda, suggests that the core concepts of Prey 2 are not being re-designed by the team currently working on the title.

In an interview with Rock, Paper, Shotgun, he answers a question about the suspension of development by saying, “It had nothing to do with what it was trying to do. It just didn’t hit the quality bar. It’s kind of like Wolfenstein, which is getting delayed to next year because it’s showing promise.”

Human Head was initially in charge of Prey 2, but the team and Bethesda parted ways.

The game was initially set to use a noir format, casting the player as an amoral bounty hunter on a planet filled with a variety of aliens.

Hines says that quality will be the focus for whatever new team is in charge of Prey 2.
